Juicing

Why should we learn about juicing? Because juices are not only tasty, but they contain large amounts of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. We can eat a piece of fruit or a vegetable, and that is very good for us too, but we can drink the juice of three or four pieces of fruit or vegetables, and that juice has a great deal more vitamins, minerals, and enzymes.

Helpful Information

There are three types of juicers available today.

The Masticating machine operates at a slower speed and chews the fibers in order to break up the cells of vegetables and fruits.  This gives you more fiber, enzymes, vitamins and trace minerals.

The Centrifugal machine first grinds the fruit and vegetables then pushes them through a strainer by spinning at a very high rpm. This method usually yields a little more volume of juice.

The Triturating (twin gear) machine, operates at a slower rpm.  It has a two step process: first, it crushes the fruits and vegetables; second, it presses the juice. This two-step process gives more fiber, enzymes, and vitamins.  It takes a little longer to make this juice because of the two steps, but it is a higher quality juice.
